Flooding: FG to Fix Damaged Roads in 5 States

Flooding has affected many communities in different states, including parts of Abuja, which has led the Federal Government to order immediate repairs on sections where failure had occurred.

The states to get the government’s attention are in terrible shape due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall in slated five states across the country.

On Tuesday, Minister of Works and Housing Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola gave the directive at a briefing meeting in Abuja named the roads for immediate intervention.

These roads include Ibadan – Ife road, Gombe – Bauchi road, Gombe – Darazo; Bauchi – Ningi, Bida – Lambata, and Tsamiya bridge in Jigawa State.

Fashola Assures Continuous Repairs of Areas Affected by Flooding

Fashola also assured of continuous attention to other roads with similar problems in the flood-infested regions in Nigeria.

The Minister said that the Federal government is committed to infrastructure development and will respond promptly to complaints from citizens.

However, he appealed to commuters to be patient with the government as the excessive rains witnessed harm road construction and rehabilitation.

He expressed his Ministry’s commitment to do all within its means to ease the hardship of commuters.
