The federal government has levelled a serious allegation against Nigerian entertainers, accusing the showbiz sector of promoting the abuse of women’s bodies through the choice of the lyrics in their songs.
According to Pauline Tallen, the Minister of Women Affair and Social development, Nigerian entertainers are frustrating the government’s efforts to curb women’s violation.
The Minister who warned entertainers against using female dancers most disdainfully disclosed that the Nigerian government was working hard to tackle the fear and stigma of violence survivors and seek justice for victims.
Tallen noted that the entertainment industry continues to indirectly support the abuse of the female body as a sex object, despite its large followership of young minds.
The Minister described such act as unacceptable and appealed to producers and writers to join hands with the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to ensure that Nigerian society can guarantee an environment where girls and women can make choices about their bodies.
