The federal government of Nigeria has finally approved the full re-opening of schools for academic activities in the country stating that the re-opening would be done in phases.
The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, who gave the directive at the PTF briefing on Thursday, September 3 said educational institutions should begin the process of working towards re-opening schools for academic activities.
The educational institutions include daycare, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions
Meanwhile, Aliyu advised state governments to conduct a risk assessment to ensure that all schools are at a level of compliance and create a monitoring mechanism to access and monitor this level of compliance.
Also, the PTF has reviewed the nationwide COVID-19 curfew noting that the curfew will now be from 12 am to 4 am adding that it does not apply to people on essential services and international travellers that might be returning from abroad.
Aliyu also announced that the management of the National Youth Service Corps should start making plans for the reopening of its orientation camps nationwide.
He stated that bars and night clubs to remain closed until further notice adding that eateries and restaurants can only open for outdoor services.

The cancellation was contained a statement issued by Mr Taiwo Adisa, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Makinde on behalf of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force.
