Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education has in a press statement said that schools will not be resuming as planned even for the WASSCE candidates.
This was the decision made at the Federal Executive Council meeting held today. Adamu disclosed this information to the State House Correspondents after the meeting.
Resumption of schools have been held off as the Minister debunked rumors of students returning anytime.
The previous decision to allow students in promotional classes return to prepare for their exams was also cancelled .
This new development will also prevent SS3 students from partaking in the upcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examinations(WASSCE) slated for August 4 to September 5.
Adamu added that the West African Examination Council could not determine the resumption dates for Nigerian schools.
The Minister said that Federal schools would remain closed until further notice and the state governments that had announced resumption are adviced to put a hold on it.
Adamu said that he would rather the Nigerian students lose an academic year than expose them to health risks.
