Femi Kuti the first son of music legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has opened up on the reason he wasn’t given sound education by the father.
The saxophonist made this known in a recent TV interview. Although his renowned father, Fela, was learned, he didn’t send Femi to school.
According to the Afrobeat singer, his father didn’t send him to school because he wanted to use him as an experiment, to prove that he could be successful without acquiring education.
He also stated that although his father was great, he had his faults, one of which was his refusal to send him to school, an experiment he believes was very risky.
In his words, “Yes Fela was great. But Fela did have faults. But one of the faults is that Fela wanted to use me as an experiment. His excuse was that I would be successful without going to school”
Femi Kuti as a musician has received Grammy nominations in his career and has won some other awards. His brother (Seun Kuti) and son took after the legendary Fela Kuti as a music artiste.
