The federal government is reportedly in talks with China to have access to COVID-19 vaccines for Nigerians.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffery Onyeama disclosed this after a bilateral meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, who visited Nigeria on a working visit.
According to Onyeama, China was of immense assistance to Nigeria at the advent of the pandemic adding that the donation of protective equipment greatly helped the nation in the fight against COVID-19 during the first wave.
Onyeama noted that at this point when countries were discovering vaccines China inclusive, Nigeria has received a lot of support from China in the area of personal protective equipment.
The Minister stressed that the federal government seeks help from China to also help with regards to access to vaccines for the country.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control, NCDC has revealed that Nigeria on Tuesday recorded 1, 354 new cases of COVID-19.
Lagos-712, FCT-145, Plateau-117, Kwara-81, Kaduna-54 while Sokoto recorded 39 new cases.
Also, Oyo-38, Rivers-37, Gombe-21, Enugu-20, Akwa Ibom-16, Bauchi-14, Delta-14 and Ebonyi recorded 13 new cases.
Others are Anambra-9, Taraba-8, Edo-8, Kano-3, Osun-2, Ekiti-2, Ogun while recorded 1 new case bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 92,705, 76,396 discharged while 1,319 deaths have been recorded since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country.
