On Wednesday, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state threatened government appointees who aspire to run in governorship primaries.
Dr Fayemi has given December 18 deadline for governorship aspirants to resign from their current post.
Resign Before December 8 – Fayemi
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, read the governor’s directives in Ado Ekiti.
The statement titled “Ekiti 2022: Fayemi gives December 18 deadline to governorship aspirants to resign position” stated that the directive complies with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ruling.
INEC gave January the deadline for all Governorship primaries in the state, while the Governorship election is slated for June 2022.
“In compliance with directives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, the ruling All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has slated the governorship primaries for January, ahead of the June 2022 governorship election.”
Those believed to have shown interest in running for the state governor include Chief of Staff to the Governor, Biodun Omoleye; Secretary to the State Government, Biodun Oyebanji; Special Adviser to the Governor, Prof Bolaji Aluko; Commissioner for Public Utilities, Bamidele Faparusi and many others.
