The former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode has raised eyebrows over the appointment of President Muhammadu Buhari as the Chairman, COVID-19 response by the ECOWAS leaders.
He described Buhari’s appointment as cataclysmic error noting that Buhari is not fit for the position.
Fani Kayode made this known in a post via his Twitter handle.
The tweet reads, “The greatest mistake that the ECOWAS leaders have made is to appoint @MBuhari
as the leader of the fight against COVID 19.
This is a cataclysmic error which they will deeply regret. He can barely manage himself & now you ask him to manage a sub-region of 400 million people?
You will recall that President Buhari was appointed on Thursday during an extraordinary summit held via video conference as the Champion who will coordinate the COVID-19 response in the sub-region.
President Buhari, during the teleconference, called on fellow ECOWAS leaders to look beyond the challenges posed by the COVID -19 pandemic and tap into various opportunities it has presented for the betterment of lives in member states.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has confirmed that 108 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the country.
According to NCDC, 78 cases were reported in Lagos, 14 in FCT, 5 in Ogun, 4 in Gombe, 3 Borno, 2 in Akwa Ibom, 1 in Kwara, 1 in Plateau as at 11:30 pm 23rd April bringing the total of confirmed cases to 981 with 31 deaths.
