The family of late Tolulope Arotile, the first female combat helicopter pilot who reportedly died from head injuries obtained in a car accident on Tuesday have released a statement demanding an investigation to be carried out on the cause of her death.
It was a dark day for Nigeria on Tuesday and the whole country was thrown into a state of mourning when the news of her death broke.
The Nigeria Airforce had released a statement saying that Late combat pilot,Tolulope Arotile was accidentally hit by an excited ex-classmate while reversing to greet her at the NAF Headquarters in Kaduna .
However, her family are not convinced on the cause of death . Damilola Adegboye, her immediate elder sister has said that the family does not believe that she died in a freak accident and has demanded that the force carry out an in-depth investigation into the cause of the accident.
Damilola who spoke with the media, wondered how her sister could have been killed by a reversing car. She said,
“We in the family are not convinced that Tolu can just die like that in a freak accident. I know that the military is well trained in the art of investigation, we want them to carry out a thorough investigation that can convince us beyond doubts that the incident that led to her death was real.”
Damilola Adegboye revealed that on the fateful day , she and her late sister were sleeping in a room when the late combat pilot received a call to report to the airforce base which she was reluctant to go to. In Adegboye’s words,
“Call came into her phone which she picked but from the way they spoke, I knew the caller must be. Senior officer calling her to come to the Airforce base. She felt reluctant and I offered to drop her off.
One hour later, I read online that something serious had happened to her. I couldn’t believe that someone I just dropped off is dead”
