Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has been accused of holding back the Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs of Warri residents in one of the popular towns.
An eyewitness on the microblogging platform with the Twitter name Chinaza posted a clip of the incident and highlighted key angles to tell the world that their rights to PVC collection have been denied.
Chinaza said, “The officials of INEC demanding gate fees before they issue voters card to their respective owners.”
He even tagged a lawyer that also witnessed the sad extortion at the Warri office of the electoral commission, stating that the office officials have refused to issue voters’ cards because they are demanding bribes.
Many residents could be seen standing hopelessly outside the commission’s gate, which is locked to deny anybody from gaining access.
He revealed that the government officials are not even hiding their demands, adding they are confidently demanding cash in exchange for the cards.
