It was a black Wednesday in Kwara State as Tanker explosion killed no fewer than sixteen persons, while several houses and cars were also destroyed.
It was gathered that a truck laden with Premium motor spirit exploded in Jebba, Moro local government area of the state after the tanker lost control and spilled its contents and rammed into residential buildings.
The oil spillage reportedly resulted in a huge explosion that engulfed over 30 houses and shops.
Reacting, the Kwara state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives and properties, described the development as unfortunate.
AbdulRazaq in a statement by his Chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor mourned the loss of lives and millions of naira worth of properties and farmlands.
Meanwhile, the governor has directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to quickly move in to determine the material loss.
AbdulRazaq also commended the Kwara State Fire Service and other responders for their efforts which helped to curtail the raging inferno.
