The English Premier League side Everton has completed Scotland right-back, Nathan Patterson, from Rangers on a five-and-a-half-year deal. The 20-year-old moved to Goodison Park for around £11.5m plus add-ons, a record fee received by Rangers. Patterson is Everton’s second signing of the January transfer window.

The first player they signed was Ukraine left back Vitalii Mykolenko. Patterson was speaking about his choice to join Everton; he said, “It was an easy choice to sign. This is a massive club with a huge history, and the fanbase is tremendous.” He also said: “Obviously, we aren’t in the place where we want to be right now, but we can get there with the talent in the changing room and staff here, and I have full belief we can do that.”

“It was also great for me knowing the manager wanted me here, and that made my decision. When a club wants you, it makes your mind up early on.” “I wanted to come here from the very start. Long-term, I want to nail down a starting position and win some trophies to make the fans proud.” Before joining Everton, the Scottish player has made six appearances for Rangers this season. He made his senior debut in January 2020 when Rangers won their league title and went unbeaten throughout the season in the Scottish Premiership.

Everton sits in the 15th position in the English Premier League table and eight points above the relegation places following a run of one win in their past 12 league games. Their head coach Rafael Benitez is currently under pressure with former Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer in line to take his place.
