Everton and Columbia defender Yerry Mina is set to miss the restart of the Premier League season after picking up a muscle injury in training last week. The Everton player will not be in the Merseyside derby which will be against Liverpool, the Colombia international sustained “a partial tear in his left quad”, according to a statement from the club.
The 25-year-old will be sidelined “for several weeks”, a period likely to include their first game after lock-down, the Merseyside derby is one which Everton is aiming to stage a major come back because they have already lost to Liverpool. The last two games ended in favour of Liverpool and so now they will do their best to register a draw at least.
Yerry Mina is currently undergoing rehabilitation with club medical staff. The defender, who made 25 appearances for Everton this season and scored two goals before the enforcement of the lock-down because of the coronavirus pandemic. Yerry Mina is said to be making “good progress” in the early stages of his recovery.
Everton has experienced all sort of set backs before the appointment of Carlio Ancelloti, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid has made an impressive change in the club. Ancelloti’s side suffered a huge lost in their last game against Chelsea, they were outplayed totally as they conceded five goals without scoring any, (5-0).
