European Union EU Observers who came to observe the just concluded 2023 presidential election have released a statement on what it uncovered in the just concluded presidential and National Assembly election held by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
The European Union Observers noted that INEC’s operational capacity was hampered by fuel scarcity and Naira scarcity. They also said that insecurity prevented the electoral commission from accessing some local governments especially in the Southern region, and also hindered preparations in the areas.
INEC was also accused of refusing to enforce sanctions for electoral offences and for financial breaches. European Union said INEC lack efficient planning and transparency during critical stages of the electoral process. For this reason they said the election is not valid and as such will not be accepted.
