Europa League Matchday 4 Games, Preview and Predictions

Share

Europa League matchday 4 resumes with lots of expectations from various clubs across Europe. Arsenal opened the Matchday 4 yesterday when they played with Viktoria SC which ended 1-1. The English and Spanish teams have been impressive in their various groups. Both the English and Spanish sides are either topping or at least second in their groups.

Group A is headed by Seville with 9 points, while Getafe is in second place in Group C. Arsenal, Manchester United and Espanyol are leaders in groups F, H, and L respectively. Wolverhampton is in the second place position in Group K with just one point behind group leaders Braga. We will be giving a preview and possible predictions for the matches to be played based on their current rating and previous meetings.

Wolverhampton vs Slovan Bratislava

Wolverhampton will be aiming to get the first place spot in Group K when they welcome Slovan Bratislava at their Molineux Stadium. The Wolves did well to beat the Slovaks in Bratislava, in their last game. Nuno Espirito Santo’s troops aim to get their job done in the group stages as soon as possible, but they will have to be conscious of away team and avoid complacency.

Wolverhampton is a real force to be reckoned with at their Molineux Stadium, and so we are tempted to put our money on the home team. The Slovaks face a tough task in the Molineux Stadium clash, and we do not believe that they are capable of shocking the Premier League side away from home. Raul Jimenez is one player to watch out for. Their last meeting ended 2-1 in favor of Wolverhampton.

Manchester United vs Partizan

Manchester United Managed to win away from home in their last Europa League game over Partizan in Belgrade. United will be looking to move one step closer to booking their place in the Europa League knockout stages. Partizan was a better side in the first meeting of the two clubs, but the Serbs failed to turn their dominance into goals.

The Red Devils, on the other hand, failed to impress in the 1-0 win over Partizan but used the chance they had. We are positive that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s troops will do better this time around and given they are home. Marcus Rashford came from the bench in the Belgrade clash, but Man Utd key player is likely to lead the line for the hosts this time out. Europa League matchday 4 will give the Red Devils a chance to retain the first place spot or drop to the second place.

Espanyol vs Ludogorets

The Spanish side was able to beat Ludogorets 1-0 in Razgrad. Espanyol moved one step closer to securing their place in the Europa League knockout stages. Los Periquitos are leading the standings ahead of the visit of the Bulgarian champions, a point from Europa League matchday 4 will be enough to see them through. We are positive the home side will win the encounter.

The Bulgarians sit in second place in the standings after three rounds, meaning that they would be satisfied with the share of spoils as well. Chinese attacker Wu Lei will be leading the attack for the side while Espanyol defenders will have Keseru to worry for.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs A.s Roma

All eyes will be on Stadion in Borussia-Park when Borussia M’gladbach and Roma face each other in the Group J derby. Borussia has not been really impressive in the Europa League this season, they played below expectations in the Europa League group stages. They were only able to secure two points from possible nine. Matchday 4 of the Europa league could turn things to their favor. The Romans, on the other hand, aim to retain top position in the standings. And we are positive the Serie A outfit will adopt a cautious approach when they travel to the Stadion in Borussia-Park.

A close encounter is on the cards in M’gladbach. Both teams are good but since AS Roma is playing away from home it will be wise to bet on away team to score. The two teams played out a 1-1 draw at Stadio Olimpico two weeks ago.

St. Liege vs Frankfurt

Stade Maurice Dufrasne will host Thursday’s Europa League matchday 4 game between Standard Liege and Eintracht Frankfurt. The Red Devils kicked off their Europa League campaign in style, beating Vitoria Guimaraes 2-0 in front of home fans. The home side suffered back-to-back losses to the likes of Arsenal and Eintracht Frankfurt on the road.

Although Standard Liege is tough to beat at home, we believe they won’t be able to pose a threat to the away side. Die Adler has not been as impressive in the 2019/2020 Europa League campaign compare to last season’s campaign. We do believe the two teams are going to find the back of the net at the end of the day. A man to watch in the away team will be Goncalo Paciencia, while Eintracht defenders should have Renaud Emond to look at for. The Belgian attacker has been scoring goals for fun in the national championship this term.

Rosenborg vs Sporting C.P

Lerkendal Stadion will host Thursday’s football game between Rosenborg and Sporting CP, the two teams who compete in Group D. The Norwegian side suffered a loss in each of their first three group games, so they are desperate to grab something from the Sporting CP clash. The Lisbon Lions, on the other hand, quickly bounced back from a 3-2 loss to PSV, by beating LASK and Rosenborg in the previous two group matches.

Sporting CP is more of a team than Rosenborg, and since they are in a fine form in the Primeira Liga, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the away team. A man to watch in Leonel Pontes’ team will be Brazilian attacker Luiz Phellype, who has found his form of late. When the two teams met in Lisbon two weeks ago, Sporting CP recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Rosenborg.

Delange vs Sevilla

Sevilla defeated F91 Dudelange 3-0 at their Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in their last game. They will be looking to keep their 100% record intact in Group A. Los Sevillanos aim to cement their spot in the Europa League knockout stages with yet another win over F91 Dudelange. We are positive that the Spaniards will take this match very seriously. Head coach Julen Lopetegui is likely to stick to his rotation policy, but regardless of which players will be featured in the starting XI, away win is sure.

Luxembourg, on the other hand, does not seem to be capable of beating the star-studded Spanish outfit. Taking everything into account, we predict that Julen Lopetegui’s troops are going to extend their winning run in Group A to four games. Experienced attacker Javier Hernandez Chicharito is widely expected to lead the line for the visitors against Dudelange.

Basel vs Getafe

Getafe will be aiming to get their revenge on Basel for a shocking 1-0 loss in the suburbs of Madrid when the two teams face each other at St. Jakob-Park. Los Azules is still on the right track to book their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League. The Spaniards will have to be at their best if they want to secure a top-two finish.

Basel, on the other hand, aims to retain top position in the standings, and they would be happy with one point from the St. Jakob-Park clash. Even though Kevin Bua misses the game through suspension, we predict that the Swiss side is capable of holding Getafe to a draw in front of home fans. Fabian Frei, who scored the winner for Basel two weeks ago, will be the man to watch in the home team.
