Erling Haaland Scores Five in 7-0 City Thrashing

Manchester City super striker Erling Haaland has set a new record as he is now the club’s highest goalscorer in a single season after he scored five last night. The Norwegian international scored five goals, including a first-half hat-trick, as City beat German side RB Leipzig 7-0 to reach the last eight of the Champions League.

Since joining Man City last summer Haaland has amassed 39 goals in 36 games. He has broken Tommy Johnson’s 94-year record for most goals for City in a single season. And it is only March.

“My super strength is scoring goals,” Haaland told BT Sport. “A lot of it is being quick in the mind and trying to put it where the goalkeeper is not. “I was so tired after my celebrations.” The former Dortmund star has scored 22 goals in 12 Champions League home matches.

Erling Haaland Wanted a Double Hat-trick

Erling Haaland’s tally of five against Leipzig equalled the record for the most goals in a Champions League game alongside Lionel Messi for Barcelona against Bayer Leverkusen in 2012, and Luiz Adriano for Shakhtar Donetsk against BATE Borisov in 2014.

According to the striker he said, he told Pep Guardiola that he would love to score a double hat-trick but he was taken out in the 63rd minute of the game. Chances are that he would have scored even more than six goals if they have left him on the pitch.
