Equatorial Guinea’s government has launched an investigation into a scandal involving hundreds of leaked s3x tapes allegedly showing the country’s financial crime chief, Baltasar Ebang Engonga, engaging in s3xual acts with various women, including the wives of prominent officials. The tapes, which have circulated widely on social media, have sparked outrage and prompted immediate action from the government.

In response to the growing controversy, the government announced it had suspended several officials connected to the scandal. A statement from the Equatorial Guinea Press and Information Office, published on the government’s website, confirmed the suspension of these officials, with further sanctions to follow for those found involved in such misconduct.

Vice-President Teodoro Mangue addressed the issue on Tuesday, stressing that any government official found engaging in s3xual acts at work would face strict penalties, calling such behaviour a “flagrant violation of the code of conduct.”

“Any official found engaging in s3x acts at work will be sanctioned,” Mangue said, underscoring the government’s commitment to upholding professional and ethical standards in public office.

The government’s decision to take swift action comes in the wake of the viral spread of the adult videos, which have been described as damaging to the nation’s reputation. The leaked videos were reportedly discovered during an ongoing corruption investigation, which led authorities to uncover more than 300 explicit recordings on the personal devices of Ebang.

“Among the decisions taken are the suspension of employment of the officials who appear in the homemade adult videos circulating on the networks, severe measures for the members assigned to the surveillance of the inmates for not fulfilling their duties and allowing such acts, as well as the reinforcement of security in all judicial offices in the country; in addition to the installation of surveillance cameras in the judicial and ministerial offices,” the statement added.

The videos allegedly show Ebang in s3xual encounters with multiple women, including some of the wives of high-ranking officials in the government, such as the head of the Presidential security and even his own brother’s spouse. These tapes, which were filmed in various locations—including offices, hotels, and public spaces—have fueled public outrage and calls for accountability.

Ebang, who serves as the head of the National Agency for Financial Investigation (ANIF), was initially detained as part of a corruption probe. However, the investigation took an unexpected turn when authorities discovered the compromising videos on his personal devices. These videos were subsequently leaked online, sparking widespread attention and condemnation.

The government has reacted strongly, taking immediate steps to address the crisis. “The Executive has made this decision in the wake of the s3xual videos that have gone viral on social media in recent days, which have denigrated the image of the country,” the statement said.

In an effort to curb similar misconduct in the future, Vice-President Mangue convened an urgent meeting with top judicial and government officials, including the President of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Attorney General, to develop strategies for preventing such incidents.

“And in order to correct this bad behaviour of some officials of the public and judicial administration of Equatorial Guinea, the Vice President of the Republic, concerned about this situation, has urgently summoned the President of the Supreme Court of Justice, the Attorney General of the Republic, and several members of the government headed by the Prime Minister, to adopt strategies to stop this type of behaviour and thus propose preventive measures,” the statement continued.

As the investigation into Ebang continues, the Equatorial Guinean government has promised to take decisive action to restore public trust and ensure that such breaches of conduct are swiftly addressed. The scandal has sent shockwaves through the country’s political landscape, raising questions about the integrity and oversight of government officials.
