Enugu is the old administrative headquarters of the old Eastern Region of the 1950s-1960s.
Enugu state is an important center of political, cultural, commercial and administrative influence in the Southeastern part of the country. Therefore, the airport is strategically located in Enugu to serve this part of the country. Enugu International Airport has a very beautiful building. It has runways for the domestic and international flights. There is also the control tower in the airport. The airport is very close to town so it is easily accessible by passengers who ply the domestic and international flights. There are several cabs waiting to pick passengers to their destinations from the airport.
The passenger airlines and destinations in the airport includes; Aero Contractors (Lagos), Air Peace (Abuja, Lagos), Arik Air (Abuja, Lagos), Med-View Airline (Lagos, Port Harcourt), and Ethiopian Airlines (Addis Ababa).
The airport located in Nigeria’s coal city is one of the best airports in Nigeria. Federal Airport Authority and Enugu State government needs to keep the airport in a good shape so as to have more airlines plying this route.
