EndSARS: UK Lawmakers Propose Sanction Against Buhari, Others

Amidst the controversies trailing the report released by Cable News Network, CNN over the alleged killing of EndSARS protesters, members of the UK Parliament have debated a petition seeking to impose sanctions on President Muhammadu Buhari and other Nigerian officials.

During the debate, which took place at the Westminster Hall with Theresa Villiers, the lawmakers demanded sanctions on government officials and security agents.

The proposed sanction include visa ban, freezing of assets and stopping the funding and training for the Nigeria Police Force among others.

It was gathered that the UK Lawmakers Propose Sanction Against Buhari and condemned the shooting at the Lekki toll gate. They insisted that Nigerian officials should not enjoy in the UK the liberties they deny their citizens at home.

A lawmaker representing West Ham, Lyn Brown, said it was unfortunate that the federal government accused EndSARS protesters of sponsoring terrorism and blamed them for the increase in food prices.

Meanwhile, the Representative of the Minister for Africa, James Duddridge said that he will await the outcome of the judicial panels of inquiries into the shooting.

However, President Buhari has yet to hold any military personnel or political office holders accountable since the killing of the protesters on October 20 at Lekki Toll Gate.
