Nigerian army shoots at protesters

The Nigerian Army has denied opening fire on the unarmed peaceful protesters at the Lekki tollgate last night.

Following the announcement of the Lagos curfew, reports had it that some officials came along and disconnected the CCTV cameras in the area and hours later the entire lighting system at the tollgate was cut off leaving the protesters in total darkness save for the torchlight from their mobile phones.

Moments after the lights were shut off, military men came to the venue and opened fire on the unarmed protesters and to protect themselves, they resorted to singing the national anthem and holding up the Nigerian flag but to no avail as the men still shot at the protesters.

Video footage from the area showed fully clad military men who are yet to be identified shooting in the direction of peaceful protesters in the dark leaving in their wake multiple injured persons and fatalities but the official account of the Nigerian army has debunked claims that they opened fire on citizens by slapping the words, “FAKE NEWS” across all media publications that carried the news of the massacre on Nigeria.
