#EndSARS: Burnaboy Gives Reason For Prolonged Silence

Share

For days, Nigerian youth have taken over the streets and the internet pushing for an end to Police Brutality, this has gained a level of global recognition with foreign public figures and governments opining on the matter at hand.

Nigerian celebrities have been at the forefront of the battle line fighting with other Nigerian youth to put an end to the F-SARS. Celebrities like Runtown, Falz, Tiwa Savage etc have all come out on one day or another marching and protesting.

Through all these, one person who remained inactive was self-acclaimed African Giant, Burnaboy. From the beginning of the campaign, most Nigerian youths expected Burna boy to champion the movement seeing that he has been likened to the legendary singer, Fela Anikulapo Kuti due to the similarities in the style of music and activism. Burna has never been one to shy away from speaking up against injustice so it was understandable that people thought his silence out of place.

However, on October 12,  he finally spoke up on his silence in the face of the #EndSARS campaign and it was all because he was dealing with a personal issue. He shared on the microblogging platform, twitter that at the beginning of the campaign his mother, Bose Ogulu was undergoing major surgery and all the focus was on ensuring she was doing well but moving forward the focus will be on the protest.
