On Monday, a court in Abuja has passed judgment over four out of six #EndSARS protesters. They were apprehended and charged with unlawful assembly in November last year.
The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, declared the order to end the case against four of the defendants on the grounds of lack of diligent prosecution of the case by the police.
They were arrested while they were peacefully demonstrating along with many other #EndSARS protesters in front of the National Assembly complex in the country’s capital.

The discharged defendants – Olutosin Adeniji, Abdusalam Zubarur, Paul Akinwumi, and Devour Chomo – were available at Monday’s court session. The other two – Yasidu Bashiru and Kabiru Garzali – were absent.
The counsel to the defence, Henry Akwaji, had earlier on Monday applied for the dismissal of the case due to the prosecution teams’ absence from court.
The prosecution was also absent during the hearing of the defendants’ bail application on November 11.
Questioned by the magistrate, Musa Eneye about the absence of two defendants, Mr Akwaji said they fell ill and were receiving traditional treatment in Kaduna.
