EFCC Raids Gbenga Daniel’s Hotel

Some Gunmen suspected to be operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided former Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel’s hotel in Sagamu.

The gunmen reported to have stormed the Conference Hotel at about 2:00 am on Sunday, arrested some suspected fraudsters after less than an hour of operation.

The suspected operatives were reported to have caused panic after they stormed the hotel shooting into the air in a combat-like manner.

EFCC Storms Hotel in Abeokuta

The men were reported to have harassed some guests and staff of the hotel and left with over 20 cars and several mobile phones taken from the arrested suspects.

The former Governor’s office confirming the incident in a statement said, “some unknown gunmen believed to be acting at the behest of one of the anti-graft agencies” raided their hotel facility in Abeokuta in search of ‘yahoo boys’.

He added that shots were fired unnecessarily scared “innocent guests.”

He stated that law and order were restored by their various security agencies, as no lives were lost.”

A few months ago, some EFCC operatives raided some hotels in Abeokuta, causing rage from some lodgers who claimed the operatives did not respect their privacy.

The Public Relations Officers of both the Ibadan and Lagos offices of the EFCC denied knowledge of the alleged invasion, claiming, “I’m not aware of any invasion of any hotel in Abeokuta.”
