EFCC Exposes Malami’s Corrupt Orders

EFCC has exposed some of the corrupt directives issued by the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, Abubakar Malami, in a leaked audio recording.

The leaked audio contained instructions from the Attorney-General, asking for the unfreezing of accounts with a tremendous amount of money belonging to prominent individuals.

The report referred to the action of the Minister of Justice as unblocking of ‘Big Cases’ bank accounts, a revelation made while the anti-graft agency’s operatives were interrogating Abdulbari Yusuf, younger sibling to Tahir Yusuf, Rtd, Rear Admiral/Former Director, Navy Accounts, facing charges with the agency.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission obtained barrister Mohammed Idris recorded discussion with his corrupt client, who revealed the implicative audio feed and emphasised how Malami compromised corruption cases in the country.

It would be noted that the AGF was responsible for recommending the present Chairman of the anti-corruption agency, Abdulrasheed Bawa, to President Muhammadu Buhari in February of 2021.

In the allegations, the appointment came as a result of the plans put in place by the AGF to influence the agency’s Boss so as to change the course of justice against unscrupulous affiliates.

In one of the multiple audio recordings obtained by daily Nigerian and verified by some insiders, it was revealed that the conversations with the aforementioned character were facing corruption charges.

“Malami now controls the EFCC. The commission is in his hands. Once Malami speaks, the agency will unfreeze the account. They are unfreezing suspects’ accounts, including the big cases,” Idris, the operative, was heard saying in the audio.

Several other allegations were made against the AGF on other assistance offered to corrupt officials, both in public service and private practice.
