Chelsea new goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has returned to Chelsea after injuring his thigh while training with Senegal. The 28 who joined the Blues on a five-year deal last month made his English Premier League debut in their 4-0 win over Crystal Palace which he kept a clean sheet.

The Senegalese international injured his right thigh in training on Wednesday and has been sent back to London after an examination at a hospital in Rabat. Senegal will be playing Morocco in a friendly today Friday. Mendy joined Chelsea from Rennes for £20million.

However, the 28-year-old is facing some time on the sidelines after the Senegalese Football Federation confirmed he had suffered an injury to his right thigh during a training session on Wednesday. It is understood he will miss Senegal’s friendly games fixtures against Morocco and Mauritania.

If Mendy’s injury is more serious than expected, Blues boss Lampard will once again have to choose between Kepa Arizzabalaga and Willy Caballero in goal.
