In Edo State, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Benin Zone, is calling on all Nigerians to join in the movement to ensure the university system in Nigeria doesn’t die down completely.
As things are getting worse, the Benin Zonal Coordinator, Professor Fred Esumeh, who communicated this information to journalists in EdoState, stated that the union called on well-meaning Nigerians to rise up and join it in repositioning the nation’s universities to a globally competitive level.
The aim, he said, is to ensure the system would be able to produce the manpower required to jump-start the re-emergence of a country driven by technology and other initiatives.
According to him, “It will help reposition the universities to be globally competitive and able to produce the manpower required to jump-start the re-emergence of the country.”
Continuing, he pointed out that the students are currently undergoing some drop in their intellectual output, as the education system is suffering due to an incessant strike affecting school curricula and schedules.
