The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki’s name has been mentioned in a fresh certificate scandal, days after the September 19 governorship elections which the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC announced that he won.

Candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Lucky Iboi, who challenged the victory of Obaseki in a petition filed before the electoral tribunal in Benin, Edo capital on Monday, October 5 said he was challenging the eligibility of the governor to contest the election.

According to a petition filed by the ADP and its candidate, Obaseki presented a forged certificate to the INEC.

The petition was filed barely 24 hours after All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu announced that he would file pre-election cases against Obaseki.

You will recall that one of the reasons why Obaseki had to dump the APC for the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was due to the allegation of certificate forgery that was leveled against him by the party.
