In a dramatic turn of events that has gripped both political and entertainment circles, the Edo State House of Assembly has summoned Hon. Natasha Osawaru Irobosa, wife of music icon 2Face Idibia, to answer to allegations of misconduct that lawmakers say have brought the legislative arm into disrepute.

Hon. Natasha, who represents Egor Constituency, has been at the centre of a growing storm following reports of a recent public altercation with her husband in London an incident that allegedly culminated in the award-winning singer’s arrest. The controversy, which has dominated headlines and social media chatter, has now spilled into the chambers of the Edo Assembly.

During plenary on Monday, December 2, Speaker Blessing Agbebaku addressed the House with a stern rebuke, stating that the negative publicity surrounding Natasha had cast an unwelcome shadow on the Assembly.

“Distinguished members, of recent, this Honourable House, with cerebral and highly educated members, have been dragged to the mud for too long by our colleague, Honorable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru,” he said. “For the past one week, she has been trending negatively on electronic and social media platforms. Television such as TVC, Silverbird, and other stations.”

Insisting that the Assembly maintains its reputation as one of the most respectable in the country, Agbebaku stressed that the alleged misconduct of one member should not tarnish the integrity of the legislative body.

“We want to let the public know that this House is a decent and reputable House. In Nigeria as a whole, this House is the best House. That is the truth. We have responsible and intelligent members here. So, the attitude or misconduct of a member cannot drag the House to disrepute,” he added.

The Speaker directed Hon. Natasha to appear before the House Standing Committee on Ethics and Privileges within one week to defend herself against the allegations. She is also expected to show why disciplinary action should not be taken against her.

The Committee has been instructed to investigate the matter thoroughly and present its findings to the House within two weeks.

As the saga continues to unfold, all eyes remain on the Edo Assembly—and on Hon. Natasha Osawaru—whose next move may determine how far-reaching the consequences of this controversy will be.
