Italy and AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was named Uefa’s player of the tournament for Euro 2020. The 22-year-old, who is set to join Paris St-Germain from AC Milan, has been very impressive since the start of the Euro 2020 tournament.
He saved penalties to help Italy reach where they are now. He was instrumental in their game against Spain, which was in the semifinals. He saved two penalties in the Azzurri’s shootout win over the Three Lions of England, which gave them a first European title since 1968.
Gianluigi Donnarumma, who denied Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka from the spot, kept three clean sheets in the tournament. He is only the second keeper to win the award, after Peter Schmeichel in 1992. Donnarumma played 719 minutes across Euro 2020 – more than any other player.

Spain’s Barcelona midfielder Pedri was named the young player of the tournament. The 18-year-old only missed one minute of La Roja’s campaign, going off at the end of extra time in the quarter-final against Switzerland. He had just four senior caps before the tournament.
Cristiano Ronaldo finished the tournament as the top scorer with five goals. Czech Republic striker Patrik Schick also scored the same amount, but Ronaldo finished in front thanks to an assist against Germany.
