Deontay Wilder’s manager is in talks with Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury’s camps regarding their heavyweight showdowns. The manager has revealed fights with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could be announced within weeks.
Wilder fought to a debatable draw with Fury in December last year. Before Fury pulled out of their rematch negotiations. Talks over a fight with Joshua also got delayed and Wilder instead, fought Dominic Breazeale last weekend. He knocked out his fellow American in the first round and looks set to fight Luis Ortiz later this year.
That would push back fights with Fury and Joshua to 2020. But Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel has revealed talks are ongoing and hopes to make a statement soon.
“I had dinner the other night with John Skipper, we discussed the Joshua fight and I also have been in touch with Top Rank. We’re working on that, and those three fighters, Deontay will be fighting all of them in a succession which we will hopefully work out in the next couple of weeks. In the next two weeks everything will be done. It will be said publicly what we’re doing and I believe the UK fans will also be happy.”
Wilder, Joshua and Fury are all affiliated to different TV networks, but Finkel is confident deals can be done.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, has however admitted he is willing to gamble in order to make a great undisputed fight between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. With Joshua set to make his US debut in just over a week, Hearn admitted he wants to make the fight next.
“I just want to gamble,. That’s what I want to do and that’s what I want them to do.”
