Defence Troops Rescue 9 Kaduna-Abuja Road Kidnap Victims

The Kaduna state government has revealed that military troops involved in internal security have rescued 9 Kaduna-Abuja road kidnap victims.

According to the state government, this rescue mission occurred on Sunday afternoon.

Mr Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs reported that the state received intel from the Defence Headquarters’s Operation Thunder Strike (OPTS) in the kidnap.

Aruwan statement read,

“The feedback goes thus: Troops of the Operation Thunder Strike on a routine patrol along Akilubu-Gidan Busa axis on the Kaduna-Abuja road, received a distress call at around 4 PM, of bandits blocking the main highway.”

He narrated that the kidnappers opened fire on the travellers and kidnapped 9 people from the 18-seater bus.

The bus had the registration number No. Kaduna: MKA-151.

Following the intelligence report gotten, the officers swooped in to save the day and rescue the victims.

To save these people, the defence troops had to open fire on the kidnappers and in the process, hit the driver and passengers.

He said the government sends their condolences and is actively working to ensure the safety of residents and commuters.

The commissioner also revealed that Kaduna is working with other surrounding states to enhance security.
