Davido’s uncle, Ademola Adeleke, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is now the Osun State Governor-Elect, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday 17, 2022.

He defeated his opponent by polling 403,371 thousand votes as against the numbers of the incumbent Governor, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who scored 375,027 to earn the second place in the election.

The result was announced by Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, INEC’s Chief Returning Officer for Osun State early Sunday morning after completing the collation process.

Adeleke, popularly referred to as the Dancing Senator, had struggled hard to oust a sitting Governor and successfully did it fair and square as indicated in the results.

The victory was monumental as PDP didn’t only become victorious winning the total majority votes, they consequently obtained the majority of the state’s local governments, winning seventeen Local Government Areas, LGAs out of the overall thirty LGAs available, leaving APC with the remaining thirteen.

As at the time of filing this report, the manner of celebration witnessed in the state was massive and uncontrollable, but respectful, supporters were seen dancing, gyrating and chanting songs of victory when Adeleke was declared winner of the election.
