Former Manchester United and England star David Beckham have advised Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at the club beyond this summer. The Red Devils lost 4-0 at Brighton on Saturday and are facing a battle just to cling onto sixth place so they can make the Europa League qualification. Manchester United is facing significant changes ahead of next season, with Erik ten Hag taking over and a couple of out-of-contract players leaving Old Trafford.
Ronaldo, who still has one year left on his deal, has also been linked with a departure. But David Beckham is desperate for the Portuguese striker to remain at the club. Speaking to reporters at the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, Beckham said: “Obviously Cristiano is one of the best players over the last 15 years with Leo [Messi].” “To see him stay on hopefully staying on at United is important for the fans. It’s important to him, we all know how much Man United means to him.”
He also said: “And he’s still doing what he does best, scoring goals and creating. That’s what Cristiano does. Even at his age, to be doing what he’s doing, is incredible, so hopefully, it continues, and hopefully, he stays for another.” The Portuguese star is yet to say anything regarding that and the former United player is not the only player saying this as the new manager Erik Ten Hag has said he will like to have him on his team next season.
