COVID-19: PTF Warns Religious Organizations

The Chairman, Presidential Task Force, PTF on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha has pointed accusing fingers at religious bodies in the country over what he described as flouting of National response guidelines.

Mustapha, who is also the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF accused some faith-based organizations of holding large crowd events that are capable of spreading the virus.

He warned that the second wave of COVID-19 may have begun in the country.

The SGF, however, expressed concern over the rising infections as he further opined that the pandemic’s impact has resulted in mental health issues, drug use, and gender-based violence.

However, he urged all sub-national entities that signed the protocols with these organizations to step up their roles of enforcement.

Speaking on how to address the mental health issues, Mustapha emphasized the need for enormous self-restraint and vigilance.
