COVID-19 Prevention: World Bank Grants FCTA $15bn

COVID-19 prevention as a priority to the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has attracted 15 billion dollars from the World Bank support fundings.

Overall, the support fund is in the tune of 750 billion dollars, out of which Nigeria’s Government received the first batch payment.

This information was revealed by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Olusade Adesola, in Abuja, during the inauguration of a steering committee to pilot the Federal Capital Territory, FCT CARES Program.

Mr Adesola said that the authority would utilise the money to rebuild the livelihood of the poor and vulnerable, managing food security and strengthening recovery of Medium and Small Scale Enterprises, MSME.

He spoke on behalf of the Director, FCT Human Resources Management, Bashir Mohammed, further explaining that the lockdown period harmed businesses and people’s livelihood in general.

According to him, a significant reopening of the economy has been on for several months now, but the recovery from last year’s forced confinement and economic difficulties continues.
