After he collapsed, the owner of the shop and some Chafuyi settlers immediately called the police who later came with some members of the Nigeria Center for Decease Control (NCDC) to examine and carry the corpse away. At the sight of the Police and especially the Nigeria Center for Decease Control’s convoy, the resident became restless and worried hoping and wishing that the cause of death after autopsy will not turn-out to be COVID-19.
However, through the series of interviews we carried out, the decease aside from the complaint of having a stomach upset, the decease did not exhibit any of the numerous symptoms associated with the coronavirus pandemic. Some of the Chafuyi residents were of the opinion that the cause of death might be poverty-related sickness like hunger, depression, starvation et cetera. Be that as it may, the Chafuyi community are hopeful and optimistic that it doesn’t turn out to be another COVID-19 case.
