COVID-19 Origin: China Denies WHO Access To Wuhan

Share

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has revealed that two scientists from the Organization have been denied access to China.

It was gathered that the scientists investigating COVID-19 origin were told mid-trip to Wuhan that the Chinese government had not approved their entry into the country.

Earlier, China’s foreign ministry spokeswoman, Hua Chunying has confirmed that Beijing would welcome the WHO team.

However, Ghebreyesus, who expressed disappointment over the denial revealed that the arrangements for the probe had earlier been jointly agreed with China.

He noted that Beijing had initially given assurances for the earliest possible deployment adding that the mission is a priority for WHO and the international team.

Everyevery.ng gathered that the WHO’s team of global scientists were seeking access to key sites in Wuhan where the virus was first detected in December 2019.

You will recall that more than 100 countries had in May 2020 agreed to a resolution calling for an independent probe into the origins of the pandemic.
