
On COVID-19 lockdown, the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development, CentreLSD, will today, October 26 in Abuja, present its research report on “The Impact of COVID-19 Lockdown Implementation By Security Forces on Communities and Citizen.”
This report further supports her implementing of a project to Strengthen Citizens Voices for Security Sector Accountability, SPaCVOSSA, in Nigeria.
The research report, among other issues, interrogated the methodologies and constraints of security agencies during the enforcement of the lockdown directives imposed by the Government to curb the spread of the Coronary virus outbreak, especially during the first phase of the lockdown implementation.
COVID-19 Lockdown
According to a statement by Mr Itia Otabor, Director of Strategy and the Project Lead, the research documents the multifaceted impacts of the Lockdown on communities and Citizens.
It also examined the predominant issues of human rights infringements by Security Forces during their enforcement of the Lockdown.
The study threw light on the principal reasons and factors why Citizens voices are not heard in demanding security sector accountability and proffered short-, medium- and long-term recommendations.
