COVID-19 : Catholic Priest Dies In Enugu

Spanish priest dies of COVID-19 complications.

Father Joachim Cabanyes, a priest of the catholic Diocese in Enugu has reportedly died from COVID-19 complications.

Late Cabanyes who is a spanish priest of the Opus Dei Prelature died at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital(UNTH) isolation center and has been buried in line with guidelines issued by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)

The priest had served the catholic church in Nigeria for over two decades before he died. Opus Dei Canada shared a tweet saying,

” Fr. Joachim Cabanyes of Opus Dei died to COVID in Enugu, Nigeria. He was from Madrid. On Wed he was rushed to isolation center as he needed oxygen. He was anointed. On Thurs he seemed better but all of a sudden at 9:00am things changed dramatically & by 10: 15 am, he had died.”
