Chukwunonso Blessing, 30, and her husband, Chukwunoso Happiness 40, have been arrested by detectives from the Ojo Division of the Nigeria Police Force for alleged child trafficking.
The suspects who reside at No. 23 Masebinu Street, Igbede, Ojo, were arrested by the operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Abdullah Malah, in Lagos while acting on information from a credible source.
DSP Bala Elkana, Spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command who confirmed their arrest said the woman was seen along Alaba International Market with two children namely Joshua James, six years, and Samuel Gbawune, three years, trying to board a vehicle to Onitsha, Anambra State.
Bala said that when questioned on their ownership of the children, Blessing claimed that the boys were adopted by her husband, one Chukwunoso Happiness, from motherless babies home in Jos, Plateau State and brought to Lagos.

She further claimed that she was taking them to Onitsha to meet her husband on November 1, 2019 and her explanation raised suspicion which also led to the arrest of the husband by the police.
Elkana said the man confessed to having bought the kids at the sum of N140,000 from one Mama Oyoo of Jos township and the kids were recovered from them by the police.
He said efforts are in place to identify their parents and reunite them.
According to Elkana, the Command has however called on motor park operators, unions and well-meaning Nigerians to keep an eye on passengers with kids that appear in a suspicious manner.
