Coronavirus Waxing Stronger as Nation Records More Deaths

 

Coronavirus continues to wax stronger, just as Nigeria had since relaxed the compulsory lockdown observed during the heat of the pandemic.

Yesterday, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, affirmatively declared ten newly infected persons dead.

At the same time, the Centre also disclosed it recorded six hundred and eighteen more cases in the last 24 hours in 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control confirmed this in a late-night Facebook post while updating Nigerians on the outbreak of the disease in the country.

It noted that the total fatalities were reported in the 36 states of the Federation and FCT, adding that Lagos was one of the states with new deaths.

Coronavirus Infections Continues in Parts of Nigeria

Lagos recorded the highest number of new infections – 807, followed by Akwa Ibom, Edo, and Rivers, which reported 89, 71, and 47 cases, respectively.

Others are Ekiti – 20, Plateau – 20, Delta – 15, Kwara – 13, FCT – 11, Osun – eight, Oyo – four, Ogun – three, Benue – three, Gombe – one, and Kaduna – one.

According to the Centre, the estimations, 190,333 is the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the country, while those treated successfully are 169,815.

As of 9 am on Saturday, the NCDC said a total of 2,727,834 had been collected and tested across the country.
