Coronavirus Patients in Niger State

Coronavirus patients in Niger state have cried out over what they called inhuman treatment melted on them at the state isolation centre and also lamented the kind of medical treatment even before being discharged.

While some of them spoke with newsmen in Minna, they claimed that apart from food, they were not given proper medical treatment and were not tested and certified being negative for the virus before their discharge.

According to on fo the victims, the condition of the overcrowded isolation centre was unbearable forcing many of the Coronavirus victims to sleep on the bare floor because the isolation centre has insufficient beddings.

Some of the victims claimed that during their stay at the Niger state isolation centres, they were not administered any drug while others said no test was done on them to prove that they are not negative to the virus.

However the Niger State Commissioner of Health, Dr Muhammad Maikusidi had dismissed previous rumours about overcrowding at the state isolation centres such, stressing that the state isolation centres have the capacity to accommodate the current Coronavirus patients in the state.

A video which emanated from some Coronavirus patients in Niger State went viral some weeks ago, alleging that they were being ill-treated and were in dare need of food, medical attention and electricity.

On to the Coronavirus patients in Niger State also said he, his other and some other members of his family were discharged the same day but were told to find their ways home without financial of vehicular assistance.

According to him, they all had to trek to a point where the got a shot lid and had to take another vehicle that took them from Sabon Garibaldi’s area of the state to their house where they borrowed money to pay.

Niger state is said to have a total of 26 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with five discharges and one fatality. In an earlier report by the state government, the other Coronavirus patients in the state are unaccounted for after absconding.
