Coronavirus outbreak worldwide has led to lockdown in some nations of the world. Nigeria is not left out as there have been partial lockdown in the country. In a country described as one of the poverty-stricken nations of the world despite her resources, individuals have been showing up to help citizens in the harsh times.
Even though the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has advised the Nigerian government to help citizens with some cash (he has donated #50million) in this period of coronavirus pandemic, the government hasn’t responded to his advice. Some Nigerian celebrities have also joined in dolling out cash for other citizens in this period.
Nigerian Celebrities Giving out Cash Due to the Coronavirus Crisis
Some Nigerian celebrities are fund of giving out cash on social media platforms which is tagged ‘giveaway’ and they have continued in this period of coronavirus outbreak. Artists such as Naira Marley, Don Jazzy, Zlatan Ibile, Davido and so on at some points have shared their blessings with their fans and followers.
Nigerian major cities like Lagos (most affected), Abuja and so on are on partial lockdown due to the outbreak. The poverty in the land and suffering has made many citizens to complain about the order given by the government. This has made some celebrities to give out cash to help some of their followers even though some have argued that those who need the money most aren’t on social media.
Nigerian music star, Peruzzi is one of the leading acts of giving in this period of coronavirus pandemic. The ‘Majesty’ crooner has been giving out #10,000 each to Nigerians in the name of lunch. Many have received alerts and the artist is still sharing. He has used his Twitter account @Peruzzi_VIBES to good effect this period to help bless those who are indoor.
Another top celebrity giving out cash during this period of social distancing and self-isolation to curtail the spread of coronavirus is Nigerian singer Douglas Agu a.k.a Runtown. The music star has been sharing money through his verified Twitter account @iRuntown. Many of his followers have shared the testimony as some of them were credited with the sum of #25,000, #20,000, and #15,000. Runtown is still on the giveaway as he tweeted on his page.
Social media influencer and artist, Tunde Ednut is also giving out some cash as shared by his Twitter page @tundeednut. Many other individuals also are trying their best to help others this trying time.
