The WHO on Wednesday disclosed via a tweet that over thirty-five thousand people have recovered from the virus with two thousand, eight hundred and eighty-five deaths so far.
According to the tweet, South Africa is leading other African countries with over 17,000 confirmed cases and 312 deaths in the country.
Algeria is second on the chart with 7, 377 confirmed cases and 561 deaths, while Nigeria stands at number three with 6,401 confirmed cases and 192 deaths.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Nigeria has discharged a total of 1,734 persons who tested positive for the virus as of May, 19th, 2020.
Meanwhile, Madagascar now has 326 confirmed cases with two deaths after recording its first death on Monday, 18th, 2020 several weeks after claiming that it had discovered and manufactured a herbal tonic to prevent and treat persons who have tested positive for the virus.
In total, countries in the African continent has 90,943 confirmed cases and 2,885 deaths as of Wednesday, May 20th, 2020.
