Christian Eriksen has been linked with a move to leave his current team Tottenham Hotspur to the Seria A side. The midfielder has not really been active this season under the new manager Jose Mourinho. Eriksen has demanded his release from the English side about two season ago. The Denmark international has not been active in this season and so Serie A teams has been coming for him.
Not only Italian sides are coming for him, Spanish giant Real Madrid also had earlier showed interest in signing him. Also Manchester United were in talks with him about a season again but it never worked through. The sack of Argentine Mauricio Pochetino as head coach of Tottenham has contributed to his poor playing time. Christian Eriksen was dropped from the first team after he made his interest known that he wants to leave the club.
After the appointment of Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho many will think the player will want to stay in the club. But he is still bent on leaving the club despite the fact that almost every great player wises to play under Mourinho. Fans has come out to question the manager Jose Mourinho why Eriksen has not been given enough playing time.
I’m Not an Idiot- Mourinho to Christian Eriksen
Shockingly the Portuguese coach said: “Is this the best Christian Eriksen? “I have to be honest and say no. I know the reasons, I’m not an idiot.” “A player in this situation, even if he wants – and I am not criticizing him.” It’s normal a player in this situation doesn’t perform in the highest level,” added Mourinho.
“But he is helping us in matches he has played for us. He’s had positive performances and contributions like against Olympiakos and Norwich.” Eriksen started against Boro in their FA Cup third-round match, which finished 1-1. He is very likely to start again when they play the replay at Tottenham Stadium today.
“He plays tomorrow,” said the Spurs boss. “After that I have a match on Saturday and he maybe plays on Saturday again.” I cannot tell you much more than that.” Jose Mourinho is of the opinion that the midfielder is trying very hard to force his way out of the English side and he is not happy about it.
Christian Eriksen is Tired of the Club
The 27-year-old has indicated he has no wish to sign a contract extension at Spurs and wants to experience life outside England. The Denmark international who helped Tottenham reach the Champions League final in June, has appeared 25 times for the club this season. But eight of his appearances in the Premier League he came in a substitute.
Christian Eriksen made it Jose Mourinho’s starting XI for a league match for the first time in January. And all of that was to ensure he fills comfortable in the team but all of that was to no avail. Eriksen started against Boro in their FA Cup third-round match, which finished 1-1, and looks likely to again when they play the replay at Tottenham Stadium. “He plays tomorrow,” said the Spurs boss. “After that, I have a match on Saturday and he maybe plays on Saturday again. “I cannot tell you much more than that.”
Spurs in talks to Replace Eriksen with Fernandes
Tottenham are already in talks with Benfica over their Portuguese midfielder Godson Fernandes. The midfilder is also targeted by West Ham but he has insisted on playing under follow countryman Jose Mourinho instead.
If he passes the medical, the 21-year-old will become Mourinho’s first signing as Tottenham manager.”I am waiting for news,” Mourinho said on Monday. “I don’t want to talk about a Benfica player.” It is understood Tottenham will have an option to buy Fernandes when his loan deal with the Premier League club expires in 2021. His arrival will be a boost for Mourinho, who has lost skipper Harry Kane and influential midfielder Moussa Sissoko to long-term injury.
