Chimamanda Makes British Vogue’s Forces for Change List

On today’s episode of Nigerians who are going places and making Nigeria proud as they go, Chimamanda is the person of interest. Of course, I know, she has always been a person of interest, but she is on the news again. You see my point?

Having written and published six books, mentored and trained about a hundred writers, won several awards, given countless TED talks, keynote and commencement speeches, and bagged over 10 honorary doctorate degrees from prestigious universities across the globe, it is more than safe to say with confidence that Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a force to reckon with.

Only recently, within the last 3 months, was she in the news for receiving 5 honorary awards. She’s in the news yet again as another feather is added to her figurative cap. Selected by Meghan Markle, who is the guest editor for British Vogue Magazine’s September 2019 issue, Chimamanda makes the list believed to “highlight a cast of brilliant female change-makers who are set to reshape society in radical and positive ways”.

The theme for the magazine’s September issue is ‘Force for Change’ and Ms. Adichie makes the list alongside Sudan’s Adut Aketch, Ghana’s Adwoa Aboah, Yara Shahidi, Salma Hayek, and Laverne Cox – the first trans person to be featured on a Vogue cover.

With her numerous contributions to the global feminist cause, literature, and more recently, fashion, we don’t see any other Nigerian more deserving of this recognition. And as usual, we can’t wait to read her interview with them!
