Uefa Champions League winners Chelsea have now won all the major trophies in Europe as they are crowned Club World Cup champions after an extra-time victory against Brazilian club Palmeiras in Abu Dhabi.
It is their first-ever Fifa Club World Cup trophy thanks to a late Kai Havertz strike. The first half saw both sides rarely threaten. Chelsea struggled to break down the Palmeiras backline. Chelsea most expensive striker Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring for the English Premier League side. However, soon after, Veiga equalized from the spot to take the game to extra time.
Deep into extra time, German international Kai Havertz netted from the spot to give the Uefa Champions League defending champions the victory in the final. It is great news for Senegal number one man Eduardo Mendy who has won all the final he has ever played. The goalkeeper who just joined the club a few days ago after a successful African Cup of Nations outing which saw his side lift their first-ever African Cup of Nations trophy.
