Cardi B love for Nigeria cannot be left untold. Since visiting Nigeria for the Livespot X Festival held at the Eko Hotels on the 5th of December 2019, Grammy-award-winning female rapper Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar a.k.a Cardi B has had much love for the West African country. In her first visit to Africa, the 27-year-old mother of one had stops in the busy city of Lagos and Accra Ghana but cannot stop to reminisce her short stay in Nigeria.
Apart from performing live on stage in a Nigerian green and white costume, Cardi B made sure she updated her 57 million Instagram followers about her time in Nigeria. Cardi B met her fans, tasted the Nigerian jollof and beer, visited a strip club, enjoyed the beauty of Lagos night life and also gave back to the society by donating items to the less privileged.
Although the ‘Boodak Yellow’ crooner has since returned to her base in the United States, she’s yet to get over her visit to Nigeria. Apart from the fact that she was paid a whooping millions of dollars to perform in the two legs of the Livespot Festival, Cardi B adopted a Nigerian name ‘Chioma B’ and was seen singing to Timaya’s song titled ‘I can’t Kill Myself’ in an Instagram post to show that she really loves the Nigerian vibes while here.
Cardi B in Love with Nigeria
In her recent posts on Twitter @IamCardib, the Dominican Republic born rapper got her fans talking by posting that she would like to become a Nigerian citizen.
Cardi B in a series of tweets that trended made it known that she’s in love with Nigeria; she tweeted to pick a tribe, wants to settle for a Nigerian name between Chioma B (Igbo) or Cadijat (Yoruba) as well as mentioning her partner Offset and baby Kulture in her move to become a Nigerian citizen. Cardi B even got a Nigerian name for Kulture in her last visit; ‘Ayomide‘ was chosen for her baby which is a Yoruba name meaning ‘my joy comes’.
Cardi B Last Visit to Nigeria
The award-winning-female rapper was in Nigeria in the first leg of her first performance in Africa. She posted a video of her twerking to an unreleased remix version of a Davido’s song. The mother of one, on her arrival quickly compared Nigeria with Dominican Republic where she hailed from. She was quick to spot the power failure in the West African nation.
Her visit included a meet-and-greet with fans, a visit to a strip club in Lagos (she actually started her career as a stripper), enjoyed the Nigerian night life as she drank the Nigerian beer instead of a Champagne, gave back to the society by donating gifts to an orphanage home and finally performing live on stage in the Livespot X festival alongside top Nigerian acts. The rapper than headed for Ghana in the second leg of the Livespot festival.
Cardi B to become a Nigerian?
Many Nigerians have joked about swapping allegiance with Cardi B. This comes at a time when many Nigerians especially the youths are seeking for greener pastures abroad. If Cardi B wants to switch allegiance, a good question to ask is will you give up your Nigerian citizenship for her?
