Newcastle United used the 4-4-2 diamond formation and it worked well for them. They produced a nice display to secure their first win in 12 games, with Callum Wilson’s superb double helping to beat Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

The Newcastle’s top scorer opened the scoring from a corner in the second half of the game before scoring his second in the stoppage time. Everton was in control of the game but could not find the back of the net the whole 90 minutes.

They only tested keeper Karl Darlow in the first half, and that was all. They could not find a way through Newcastle’s defence and miss out on a chance to draw level on points with Liverpool. Carlo Ancelotti’s side remains seventh, three points off the top four following the loss.
