It’s raining global appreciation for Nigerian music as Burna Boy’s song is certified gold in the United States of America three years after its release.
The Grammy award-winning artiste’s song, ‘Ye’, released in 2018 alongside other songs on his ‘Outside’ Album, has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America(RIAA). This same song won the Song of the Year at the Headies Award.
RIAA announced that Ye had been certified gold after making 500,000 sales in the states. This certification places Burna Boy in the same league as Davido, whose singles, ‘Fall’ and ‘If’, has been certified gold.
Taking to Twitter to formally make the announcement to his fans, the self-acclaimed African giant tweeted the certification details with a simple and short caption that said ‘Still Striving’. Here is the post below;
Just three weeks ago, Burna Boy also set another record of being the highest streamed artist on popular music streaming app, Boomplay, with a total of 100 million streams.
